The 5th China Beijing International Cultural and Creative Industry Expo Kicks off

The 5th China Beijing International Cultural and Creative Industry Expo was officially opened in the Great Hall of the People, Beijing, China 17 November 2010.

In the address delivered by Chair of the expo organizing committee WANG TaiHua at the opening, he said that China’s cultural industry average growth rate exceeded 17% in recent years, contributing steadily to national economic growth and was becoming a new growth point of China’s economic development. Especially since the outbreak of the international financial crisis, China’s cultural industry went up against the depression, contributing consequentially to China’s current economic policy of “sustain growth, expand domestic demand, adjust structure, advance reform and benefit the people.” Currently the Chinese government put forward its consequential strategic task of speeding up economic development mode transition, positioning cultural industry as a consequential way and content of realizing this strategic goal. China’s cultural industry faces unprecedented opportunity; reform steps are expected to speed up. The Beijing Cultural Expo held under such situation would play a positive role in displaying achievements scores in cultural and creative industry, promoting integration of culture and high-tech, upgrading innovative ability, expanding exchange and cooperation in cultural and creative industry, achieving common prosperity and development.

Mr. LIU Qi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Secretary of Beijing Municipal CPC Committee attended and declared the opening of the expo, which was presided over by Mayor of Beijing Mr. GUO JinLong. Altogether, 63 overseas delegations over 5,000 people from 25 international organizations, (such as the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development), 39 countries and regions joined the Chinese hosts from 27 provinces for the opening ceremony and watched the evening show together.
