Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute Visits Beijing

PIT Beijing Vice-Chair Mr. NI YueGang met with visiting delegation from Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute （IPIM） at Beijing Municipal Government on 16 April 2010.

Executive member of IPIM’s Administrative Management Commission Madame CHEN JingHong briefed MaCao’s economic situation and basic profile about IPIM. IPIM is a non-profit organization, promoting trade and attracting foreign investment; main responsibilities include introducing potential investors to the local investment environment and opportunities, providing trade, economic information and market analysis to assist clients in exploring the market and the development of their business, organizing, co-organizing exhibitions and other promotional events locally, participating in such events held outside MaCao and sponsoring local enterprises participation in such events as a way to create trade opportunities. Though MaCao has only a population of 500,000, it receives 21 million visitors every year; currently it is participating in the formulation of the “Outline of the Plan for the Reform and Development of the Pearl River Delta.” Madame CHEN hoped to fully capitalize MaCao’s communications role as the tourist city, the leading role as the regional service platform and outreaching role as the connection platform with Portuguese-speaking countries by participating in all kinds of trade and economic events and activities.

Mr. NI said that CCPIT Beijing placed more and more emphasis on exchange with MaCao in recent years. Particularly the MaCao Promotion Week – Beijing event held January this year with 150 strong participating enterprises produced fairly good results. Meanwhile, CCPIT Beijing also signed cooperative agreements with MaCao Convention and Exhibition Association, seeing the two advancing in exchange and cooperation.

Madame CHEN expressed her appreciation for the direct exchange opportunity with CCPIT Beijing thanks to the arrangement by the HongKong MaCao Affairs Office of Beijing Municipal Government. She hoped that cooperation would be strengthened in small and medium sized enterprises cooperation, environment protection, cultural and creative, branded products, tourism etc..
